Arrival and Dismissal Plan

2025-2026 School Arrival and Dismissal

**Kenny Bell Times are 9:20am - 4:05pm**

See below for individual grade dismissal information.

Kenny Morning Arrival - Door #1 

Main Door #1 Emerson Avenue:  ALL grades should enter the school at Door #1 (Near the flagpole).

Additional Kenny staff will be at Door #1, along with older students to greet and assist with younger students.

  • 9:15am - Students entering for Breakfast ONLY can enter the building at 9:15am.
  • 9:20am - 1st Bell will ring for all students to go to their classrooms. 
  • 9:25am - 2nd Bell for the start of the school day.
  • 9:30am - Front door locks. Students will need to use door buzzer for entry after 9:30am.

Car Drop Off

  • Adults dropping students off are expected to stay in their vehicles.
  • If you plan to enter the building with your student, park across from the school and use the crosswalk to cross the street at the corner. 
  • ALL students (K-5) should be dropped off at the flag-pole by the front door (Door #1)

Bus Arrival

  • Kenny Elementary School will follow established MPS Transportation protocols and expectations.
  • Buses will unload on Emerson Avenue. Upon bus arrival, students should be met by a school staff member, exit the bus and enter the school through Door #1.

Student Arrival 

  • Breakfast will be available beginning at 9:15am.

  • Students will go directly to the cafeteria for breakfast.

Late Arrival

  • After 9:30am, all students will enter through the main door (Door #1), buzzing themselves into the building.
  • The student will check-in at the office before walking to their classroom.
  • Families should call the school (612-668-3340) to notify the student that they will be arriving late. 

End of Day Dismissal 3:55pm:  Grades K-1 students will leave their classroom for dismissal.

  • MPLS Kids will pick up in the classroom.
  • All others will exit the building through Door #3.
    • Parents/Guardians should meet their students outside at 3:57pm at Door #3.

4:00pm: Grades 2-3 students will leave classroom for dismissal.

  • MPLS Kids will meet in the hallway.
  • All others will exit the building through Door 1 (the main / front door).
    • Parents/Guardians should meet student in the garden area or near 57th Street at 4:00pm.

4:03pm: Grades 4-5 students will leave classroom for dismissal.

  • MPLS Kids will meet in the hallway.
  • All others will exit the building through Door 9 (the 5th grade door).
    • Parents/Guardians should meet student near 57th Street at 4:03pm.

Parent Walk-Up:

Parents/Guardians are asked to wait in the garden areas and off the sidewalks. It is encouraged that Parent/Guardians do not to walk up or wait at the student entry/exit doors. We ask for additional vigilance and awareness of who is in the gardens and which students are getting picked up.

Student Walk Home:

Walkers will dismiss with their classroom at the time and door indicated above.

Bus Loading:

Designated staff and MPS bus drivers will ensure students exit the school and enter the bus in a safe and orderly fashion.
